Argentina advances its commitment to food safety

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”929″ img_size=”full”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]Argentina plans to amend the Argentine Food Code (CAA) to establish the obligation to obtain a ‘Certificate of Authorization in the Register of Food Containers and Utensils in contact with food’. In this regard, a new Joint Resolution Project has been published – still pending approval – that will incorporate a new Article into Chapter XXI “Procedures” of the Argentine Food Code (CAA) on “Sanitary Authorization of Containers and Food Utensils in Contact” with food.

The new article establishes that in order to obtain the “Sanitary Authorization of the containers and utensils in contact with the food” it will be necessary to present information about the commercializing company but also extensive technical documentation about the product: declaration of contact with the food of each; conditions of contact with the food: type of food, time and temperature of contact and conditions of use (single, repeated, returnable or other); product dimensions; qualitative-quantitative composition of each constituent material: component substances and additives present in the formulation; analysis of global and specific migration, etc.

This change in Argentine legislation is in line with the growing interest in the health and safety of materials in contact with food, a field in which  Sigillum Knowledge Solutions provides expert knowledge to companies in their commitment to ensure that these materials do not  present a danger to human health, nor cause changes in the composition of food, or in its organoleptic characteristics.
