As in previous years, RAPEX has published the 2018 annual report that summarizes the notifications of dangerous products. Within the wide variety of consumer products, the most reported throughout the year were toys (31%), vehicles (19%), garments and textiles (10%), electronic equipment (8%) and cosmetics (7 %). As for the risks, the most common were chemicals with 25%, injuries (25%) and drowning (18%). At the national level, as has been the case in recent years, Germany is the country with the most retired products (362), followed by France (249) and Poland (139). It should be noted that Spain is one of the countries with the highest market surveillance, with 121 notifications to RAPEX, of which 67% were toys and 14% garments and textile articles.
Finally, it is also worth mentioning that last year 16% of alerts sent to the RAPEX portal were related to online sales. In this line, four of the most important online platforms (Amazon, Alibaba, Ebay and Rakuten France) have committed to withdraw the consumer products that are considered dangerous by the national authorities within a period of two working days.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”1263″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]This report reaffirms the importance of compliance with current regulations in the European Union to ensure the health and safety of consumers.
