The Enforcement Forum, dependent on the European Chemical Agency (ECHA), has agreed that its main project for the year 2022 will focus on verifying compliance with the REACH Regulation (Regulation EC No. 1907/2006), in articles and mixtures. Most of the products inspected are expected to be consumer products.
The inspectors will verify that the products comply with the restrictions for the selected hazardous substances in accordance with REACH and it will also be verified if the products comply with the restrictions for the presence of Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) defined in Regulation CE No 850/2004 Persistent Organic Pollutants . The specific substances to be covered by these controls will be decided in 2021 and could include, phthalates or PFOS. Inspections will be carried out for specific types of materials such as rubber, plastic or textiles. This measure aims to extend the protection of consumers in the European Union and also the protection of the environment.
