In an article published recently in the Journal of Cleaner Production1, this growing interest in cosmetic products sustainability is exposed, not only by consumers but also from industry and industry organizations.

While sustainability affects all phases of development of a cosmetic product, the authors of the article – from the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Lisbon – focus on the choice of raw materials, in particular in the formulation of products of skin care. The article provides a current vision of the integration of sustainability in the cosmetic industry, exposing the challenges that formulators face when addressing this fundamental aspect.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][vc_column width=”2/6″][vc_column_text]Among the conclusions reached by the authors of the article we highlight:[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][ultimate_icon_list icon_size=”20″ icon_margin=”10″][ultimate_icon_list_item icon=”icomoon-the7-font-the7-arrow-29″ icon_color=”#8224e3″]The search for sustainable alternatives is one of the main challenges of the cosmetic industry.[/ultimate_icon_list_item][ultimate_icon_list_item icon=”icomoon-the7-font-the7-arrow-29″ icon_color=”#8224e3″]The misinformation of consumers towards certain concepts, such as “synthetic”, which is associated with a harmful ingredient, and “natural” associated with a non-harmful one, when this is not always the case.[/ultimate_icon_list_item][ultimate_icon_list_item icon=”icomoon-the7-font-the7-arrow-29″ icon_color=”#8224e3″]And finally, sustainability in a cosmetic product is a very complex concept that cannot be evaluated taking into account only isolated aspects, but it is necessary to address it through an evaluation that integrates all the points: environmental, social, economic, quality and performance of the final product.[/ultimate_icon_list_item][/ultimate_icon_list][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]
