The scientific advice on the use of methyl salicylate in children has also been published. You can access the full information at this link: (link) . According to the conclusions of SCCS/1633/21 opinion and the aggregate exposure, SCCS considers the use of methyl salicylate in cosmetic products intended for children aged 0.5 to 3 years safe when used up to a maximum concentration of 0.02%. This concentration applies to products such as shower gel, hand soap, shampoo, body lotion, facial cream, hand cream, and lip products. For toothpaste, it is considered safe to use a maximum concentration of 2.52% of methyl salicylate. It is important to note that since no data was provided for children under 6 months, SCCS has not evaluated the safety in this age category.

Furthermore, based on the conclusions of SCCS/1633/21 opinion, SCCS considers the use of methyl salicylate in cosmetic products intended for children aged 3 to 6 years safe when used in the permitted maximum concentrations indicated in Table 1. These concentrations apply to products such as shower gel, hand soap, shampoo, lotion, facial cream, hand cream, lip products, and hair conditioner. For toothpaste, it is considered safe to use a maximum concentration of 2.52% of methyl salicylate.

Lastly, the publication of the Scientific Advice on HC Blue 18 (Colipa No. B122) – Submission II (link)Based on the new data provided, SCCS considers the use of HC Blue 18 as an ingredient in non-oxidative and oxidative hair dye formulations safe up to a maximum concentration of 0.35% on the head. SCCS considers HC Blue 18 as a moderate sensitizer.
